| Toshiba M200 First Thoughts Elizabeth Lane Lawley writes in this blog entry that she had Tablet PC envy until Todd Needham from MS sent her a Toshiba M200. What a lucky person. They gave my brother a Toshiba M200. I want one too but MS doesn't send me anything. (sniff). Oh well. Guess I'm going to have to save my pennies because I always have tech envy. And I guess I'm going to have to finish my web based application on my desktop. At least I'm using an MS product to develop it. Regardless, I'm off track here on my stream of conscious posting. There are great comments in this blog entry. Take a look and enjoy.

| Musings While I agree with the fact that the left click mouse button is hard to reach, I feel that overall, pound for pound, the keyboard is great and the screen is excellent. Noting my profile - I do need my reading glasses at night or in low light conditions. I'll sacrifice that for the great web page displays. The CDROM/DVD isn't an issue when you use wireless g and share drives, I get faster installs from a shared drive than an attached cdrom at 54MB, no proof just an intuition for speed - I'll test it later. But I'm a tech and can see how that is more trouble for others who are not. But my big gripe has always been updates. I install many new machines per month and I won't even put them on the net until we install basic Antivirus and firewalls. MS has at least enabled the firewall in WinXP SP2 but that's months away for most users if not years. Seriously, try the beta SP2 and you wont be disappointed. As you can see from my moniker I'm a big Linux fan. (I had Knoppix running on my M200 this morning :) ) But MS has worked hard on the Tablet software despite what 'industry pundits' are saying about them giving up on tablets. Have Fun, write well.
