| New Dell 1450 Mini pci Wireless card a/b/g Last night I successfully installed a new Dell 1450 Mini PCI Wireless card. It's a/b/g compatible. When I rebooted, loaded the drivers with a USB CD (I forgot to copy them to HDD first), it found my g network in a few seconds. At work this a.m. it found the b with a little prompting. I haven't tried a yet. I'll post pics and links to instructions later. Man, g flies on shared drives. Linuxmon |

| Can you provide pics and instructions? Which Toshiba tablet was this on? I have tried disabling the built in wireless and using a PCMCIA wireless card, but without success. Quote:

| Wireless Mini-pci card I have a M200 tablet that was fairly easy to upgrade. I'm guessing yours would be similar but I don't know for sure. You have to be comfortable with two things; First, are you good with small parts/connections? Second, are you good at excepting blame if you screw it up? It is easy to accidently break something on a laptop, remember to take it slow and do NOT force anything. Basically I unscrewed the back of the tablet (about 20 screws - some are under the HD and memory chips) and once the back is removed the mini-pci card uninstalls/installs like a memory chip. There are antennae to disconnect/reconnect however but they are pretty easy to unattach/attach. I will look for my photos later today/tonight. I'm not sure why the pcmcia(pc) card issue is giving you trouble, maybe you need to go into the network connections panel and disable the built in wireless card at that point and make sure the pc card is enabled. WinXP may not be recoginizing that you have turned off the card. Right click on the names of the corresponding card and select disable/enable. I know if I have a connection to my LAN plug/ WLAN card my tablet gets confused as to the correct routes to take on the LAN/WLAN. Good Luck Linuxmon |
