| Toshiba Satellite(R) R25-S3513 Toshiba Announces Convertible Notebook PC With Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor Satellite(R) R25-S3513 with 14.1-Inch Diagonal Widescreen Offers Superior Performance, Energy Efficiency and Flexibility IRVINE, Calif.---Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Satellite(R) R25-S3513, a convertible notebook for the retail market with an Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor for superior performance, energy efficiency and flexibility. The Satellite R25-S3513 convertible notebook allows users to work with a traditional keyboard or rotate and fold the screen down for use as a Tablet PC with digital pen-based input and control. A digitizer pen is included to handwrite notes, draw, edit copy or write e-mail or input data while standing, sitting or reclining. The system can convert handwriting to text or just record your own handwriting. The 14.1-inch Tablet PC display roughly simulates the writing area of a standard 8.5- by 11-inch sheet of paper to provide optimal room for note-taking and drawing. For the first time in a Toshiba Satellite convertible notebook, the Satellite R25-S3513 offers the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor(1) T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB). Based on the new Intel Core Microarchitecture, the integrated Intel Core 2 Duo Processor is Intel’s most energy-efficient dual-core performance processor and is designed to handle multiple tasks in less time while consuming less power and reducing fan noise and heat. Starting at 5.95 pounds(2), the Satellite R25-S3513 features a 14.1-inch diagonal widescreen WXGA+ LCD display and the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 operating system. Other features found in the Satellite R25-S3513 Tablet PC include: * a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD’s storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats; * 100GB high-capacity 5400 rpm Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive3 for faster access to stored files; * 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy file sharing and download. “Students, small business professionals and others will be delighted by the addition of the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor in a convertible notebook with the increased processing power and longer battery life,” said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing for Toshiba’s Digital Products Division. “With the large screen space, the Satellite R25-S3513 offers productivity at any angle, with or without the keyboard.” The Satellite R25-S3513 also features Toshiba’s exclusive LifeSmart Technology(TM)(4),, a set of features to enhance durability and security with shock-absorbing technologies(5) to protect the hard drive, a spill-resistant keyboard(6), and a biometric fingerprint reader for simple and secure access to files. It includes the following elements: Check Up * shock-absorbing materials(5) to help safeguard critical components such as the hard drive and LCD display; * the Toshiba Hard Disk Drive Protection System to help safeguard the notebook hard drive against possible damage resulting from accidental dropping, turbulence, impact or vibration; * spill-resistant keyboard(6) that affords users time to save work and shut down the system. If an accident should occur, this feature will help prevent the loss of data; Lock Up * integrated biometric fingerprint reader with single sign-on functionality; Quick Up * a complete suite of communication technologies, including modem, LAN and the Intel PRO/Wireless(7) 3945ABG Network Connection (802.11 a/b/g); * proprietary technologies such as Toshiba’s ConfigFree(R), a graphic connectivity management utility, and the company’s patented Diversity Antenna, designed to deliver superior, wireless signal reception through the dual-band Wi-Fi(R) antennas in the notebook’s display; Tune Up * a group of utilities that enables users to better control and manage individual settings on their notebooks for a more personalized mobile computing experience; * includes zooming utility and FN shortcut keys; * and wireless on/off switch, enabling and disabling the integrated wireless LAN (Wi-Fi). Because the unit is Windows Vista Premium Ready, consumers will be able to upgrade to Windows Vista while taking advantage of all the opportunities offered by Windows XP today.
