I bought a Toshiba Protege M400 about 2 months ago and one problem I've had this entire time is with the system locking up. It's fine when I use it but if I go away for a half hour or so and come back frequently the screen is black (like it's in standby mode) except it won't come out of it. Often I have to turn the computer off and on or remove the battery. Sometimes I am lucky enough to simply be able to turn the screen around and use it in tablet mode nad it comes out of this. if I'm not gone too long I dont' have this problem and when I close the screen it goes into hibernate but when I open the screen it works fine and never freezes.
Sometime back I turned off hibernate mode for normal operation but I have standby set for 5 mins. At that time it seems I read that hibernate is the problem but I still have this problem. I know it was known as a problem and have gotten all Toshiba updates but nothing seems to fix this. Any idea what I can use to fix this or do I have to simply turn off standby?
