Toshiba M200 Graphics?

I am considering this Convertible and would like to know If its video setup allows you to expand your desktop using an attached monitor so that you show two seperate views. 1 on the Tablet and another on the attached monitor?

Thanks

  1. Office - plugged into a port replicator with 19" LCD flat panel and FS keyboard
  2. Home - at the computer desk or relaxing in my favorite overstuffed chair
  3. In meetings - either scribbling notes or hooked to a digital projector
  4. At the radio station where I do a weekly call-in talk show
  5. Internet cafes
  6. Traveling

I can run pretty heavy duty apps like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks with no problem on this unit (1.5 Ghz Centrino, 512 MB RAM). I regularly have half a dozen apps running with no degradation in performance.

Finally, the screen on this Tablet rocks! :w00t: Super hi-res and a dedicated nVidia card.

A qualified yes. The NVIDIA card supports dual display but is a bit confused at handling two different displays with different resolutions. The LCD flat panel I use (NEC 1830) doesn't work quite right at the Portege's 1400 x 1050 native resolution. It prefers 1280 x 1024. I have run a dual display (extended desktop - not a mirror) at 1280 x 1024 and it works OK except the Portege screen is kind of fuzzy.

So it's possible, but not ideal IMO. I ended up using just the big LCD at my desk and have the Portege configured to not use the Tablet's screen when I'm docked in my port replicator on my desk.

You know, it's also worth looking at Toshiba's awesome docking solution for the M200. According to the demo I watched you can actually have the M200 tilted up for you at a convenient angle for you to hand write on, with the bulk of your actual work going on in the real monitor you're also running on the machine.

Now that's cool!
