Capture signature

We have an xplore i104 tablet PC running Windows XP Tablet Edition and Office XP 2003 Pro.

We would like to be able to capture a signature written on the screen in a field in an Access (or SQL Server 2000) database.

Any idea's how to do this? It works fine in Word and Excel by just using the 'send as ink' feature, but I can find nothing about how do it in Access.

MS Access

Hello lkimbro,

I haven't played with the latest version of Access enough to answer your question. However, I have MS Access from Office XP and was only able to get the TIP to convert the text and never capture it. I've also looked on the Tablet group questions and never saw anyone answer this type of question explicitly.

I'm going to ask around and see what can be found out. I'm sure you will too - and if you find an answer then let us know.

There are a couple ways. Look for a OCX control called EASYINK at http://www.odysseysoftware.com/support.html. They offer it freeware and it works.

Another way is to use VB and write your own OCX control. It is fairly easy task using a PictureBox.. Only a half dozen lines of code needed... I can post if you want them.

Using a PictureBox directly in Access does not work because Access does not allow it. You have to use an OCX. Even with OCX Access is a little weird.. but it does work.
