i'm a newbie to tablet pcs - i'm trying to use a sylistic3500 (w/win2000pro). i'm trying to find (to purchase or download) winxp tablet pc edition 2004 (or 2005) to put on this tablet. i tried microsoft but i cannot buy or download from them - why, i don't know!?! help, please, if someone can.

The reason why you can't find Windows XP Tablet edition is the same reason why you won’t find Windows XP Media Centre edition. They are only distributed with a new pc. They claim that these OS’s have special hardware requirements which is why you can only purchase a copy with hardware that suits it. I'm sceptical on how true that is.

It was because of this I purchased a Toshiba M200 that came bundled with Win XP tablet edition. I would say your only chance would be to attempt to find someone selling OEM copies of it. I have also seen copies of these floating around the internet in various locations to download. Technically both options are illegal, in there own way, but it’s the only way you’ll be able to get a copy with out buying a tablet that comes with it.

Yep, I've had the same experience.
Finally got a copy from a friend with "enterprise" licenses or developer access (don't remember exactly what he called it but he's in the computer biz). So I've got it but can't get it on the machine, but that's another story.
