Post Which Antivirus/or System Works type software works on Tablets

I use on just my laptop 2002 Norton System Works to monitor my system and Norton Antivirus 2004. Just wondering if and when I get a Tablet PC, should I use these products(updated of course)? Are there any other programs that work better on the Tablets?

Norton Antivirus is on this Tablet PC

Any one looking for a free and up-to-date anti-virus program should consider AVG Anti-Virus.

I thought the thread was PC Anywhere. Anyway, here is a good overview.

Norton Internet Security 2004 includes the AntiVirus, Firewall, AntiSpam, and a few other features. You definitely want a virus scanner and at least use the Windows XP Service Pack 2 / Tablet PC Edition 2005

The thing with Symantec is that they have lots of "Norton" products. Lots of people get Norton SystemWorks or Ghost mixed up with AntiVirus or InternetSecurity. Norton SystemWorks is a "problem solving" software. Our experience has been it is better for someone to use the standard operating system options to maintain your system. A lot of times people install these after they already have a problem with the system and yes, making registry changes can make it worse... it might also improve it. It's a risk :-)

Layne, in terms of AVG... I know it's a new start-up company and should be supported. However, people need to realize that anti-virus alone won't protect their machine from malicious attacks. 1) People will have to be diligent in updating virus definitions; 2) protect from ad-ware / spyware; and 3) use a firewall. Otherwise, the system is just too vulnerable.

It is a difference in philosophy too. Using programs designed for one purpose usually outperform those that toss in the kitchen sink. In terms of AVG, it is designed solely to be an anti-viral program. I also use webroot and several others for getting rid of spyware, and several Linux machines to define firewalls.

Now, with that said, I found this article just a few minutes ago and my heart sank. It states Microsoft has a list of 50 applications that must be tuned in order to work with XP SP2.

The list includes anti-virus software from Symantec, Macromedia's ColdFusion MX Server Edition, and network management applications from Computer Associates. Several of Microsoft's own applications are also on the list, including Microsoft's Small Business Server 2003, Visual Studio .Net, and Systems Management Server 2003.

The necessary fine-tuning involves opening ports closed by Windows Firewall so that the various applications can access data -- such as anti-virus updates -- or be accessed remotely.
