| using a tablet pc as a remote control My interest in a tablet PC is several fold: 1. have access to other computers networked in house (wireless) - web browsing - viewing PDFs - check e-mail - monitor video cameras using VPN 2. x10 interface for home autimation (lights, temperature etc.. 3. a universal remote control with some nice programmable software. numbers one and 2 do not seem to be an issue. However using a tablet PC as a remote control seems to bit a bit more difficult. A company called nevo (www.mynevo.com) makes a great embedded solution for the pocketPC. do you know of anything like it for the tablet PCs that are in circulation? The alternative is to keep my marantz RC5000iA, nice remote, but a tablet PC would be much nicer! thanks -the newbie      |

| MiHome might fit the bill since it is available for the Tablet PC too. Not sure if this answers your questions but it is a start. Quote:

| neat stuff. Since I am trapped in the current I would like to replace the slew of IR remotes that manage my home theatre with a tablet PC. Then again for $2000 I could buy a remote that appears to be a tablet pc: http://www.remotecentral.com/wn020924.htm (review at remote central) the thing comes with 802.11b support and a USB port... |
