| Increasing Competition: Acer Adjusts Prices On Entire Line

In an effort to gain US marketshare, Acer made an aggressive move against its competition last week and lowered prices by as much as 20% on notebooks and Tablet PCs. This move is timely for end-of-the-year business purchases.
Cost has been a large restriction on Acer's sales. Acer has been trying to address lower costs with Tablet PCs for several months now. Acer has wanted to get rid of the price premium on Tablet PCs so it can move forward with Tablet PCs as a primary leader in its mobile line. Since Acer has been involved with Tablet PC early development it has a marketing and technical advantage over traditional notebook makers and Acer does not want to loose this advantage.
