| Citrix Helps New Jersey Hospital Earn Reputation as One of U.S.'s Most Technologicall Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), based in Hackensack, N.J., is using Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Presentation Server as the foundation for its campus-wide IT infrastructure, which provides doctors, nurses and clinical technicians with mobile access to medical systems and information through wireless-enabled tablet PCs - or any other computing device. In this way, HUMC is enhancing patient care, improving medical response time, streamlining the delivery of prescription medications and helping the hospital maintain one of the lowest average lengths of patient stay in the nation. "We recognize that having the most up-to-date information at our fingertips is crucial to providing the best possible care for our patients," said Benjamin Bordonaro, director of Application Development and Support at HUMC. "Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server helps us provide patients with the attention and medication they need fast and accurately by improving communication among our staff and enabling on-demand access to patient information from anywhere, anytime, using any device, over any network." Founded in 1888, Hackensack University Medical Center, a teaching and research hospital affiliated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, is the largest provider of inpatient and outpatient services in the state of New Jersey. A 683-bed, not-for-profit, tertiary-care facility, the hospital maintains a staff of more than 7,000 employees, including 1,400 physicians. The medical center has been named one of the nation's "Most Wired" hospitals for five years in a row by Hospitals & Health Networks, which conducts a survey and benchmarking study that measures U.S. healthcare systems and their use of Internet technologies to connect with patients, physicians, nurses and clinical technicians. To bring healthcare providers closer to patients, HUMC implemented Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server to provide its staff with online access to more than three dozen clinical, financial and business applications. The centralized access infrastructure solution provides mobile access to IT resources across all stations, departments and specialties throughout the medical center. "By deploying Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server over a wireless network inside the hospital and via the Internet outside of our buildings, we are able to provide our physicians, patients and employees with secure, easy and instant access to applications that are critical to the daily care of our patients," said Ed Martinez, director, Information Technology at HUMC. In particular, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server allows doctors, from anywhere, to access Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), an application that minimizes medical errors by ensuring standardized, legible and complete orders for lab analyses and prescription medications. Since doctors can access CPOE from wherever they are prescribing lab work or medications, it's easier for them to supply the full information required by the application in real-time instead of delaying updates to electronic medical records until they are in their offices again. The foundation of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server is the world's most widely deployed presentation server for centrally managing heterogeneous applications and delivering their functionality as a service to workers, wherever they may be. MetaFrame Presentation Server is certified to run on Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 Server and Windows Server(TM) 2003, and supports virtually any custom or commercially packaged Windows application. MetaFrame Presentation Server provides an exceptional foundation to build highly scalable, flexible, secure, manageable access solutions that reduce computing costs and increase the utility of any information system. With the clear benefit of improved patient care, it's evident why Citrix access infrastructure software is used by 10 of the top 10 healthcare organizations. About Citrix Citrix Systems, Inc.
