| Pen&Internet releases first natural handwriting recognition on Linux Sunnyvale, CA - August 3, 2004 - Pen&Internet®, LLC, a provider of advanced handwriting and forms recognition technologies, today announced the release of riteForm for Linux, marking the first natural handwriting recognition to debut on the Linux platform. Pen&Internet's next-generation handwriting recognition engine (riteScript®) understands any handwritten style, does not require learning or training, and allows users to write continuously, in whole sentences, automatically segmenting handwriting into words and lines. With the growing number of corporations using Linux-based servers, the enterprise market has seen a growing demand for the same low-cost and efficient computing systems on the front-end, including pen-enabled devices requiring handwriting recognition. "Pen&Internet's cool riteScript technology running on Linux makes tablet PC's running Linux viable for the first time," said Martin Fink, vice president of Linux at HP, when seeing it for the first time running on a Linux tablet PC. With riteForm, users receive the most powerful and accurate, context sensitive forms recognition, which takes into account the content of individual forms fields. "We are delighted to be working with companies like HP to bring our third generation handwriting recognition to the Linux platform," said Leonid Kitainik, general manager for Pen&Internet. "This marks a new opportunity for system integrators and enterprises to quickly and easily build advanced mobile solutions, forms applications and services." Key new riteForm for Linux features: New platform support: riteForm is now available both remotely and via device-based recognition for Linux tablets. Dynamic vocabulary support: Developers can now use an advanced level of customization to build and modify vocabularies on the fly, reflecting the changes in corporate data without compromising the quality of recognition. Improved recognition accuracy: Provides further improvements to highly accurate and unrestricted recognition of forms. Product availability riteForm Local SDK and riteForm Remote SDK for developing forms processing applications are available for Linux-based tablets, Windows 98/2000/XP/XP Tablet PC Edition, Windows Mobile (including Pocket PC 2002 and 2003) and Windows CE 4.X. riteForm is shipping with over 40 vocabularies, covering the most common data types found in forms fields. riteForm is available for a one month free evaluation, for pilot projects and for commercial licensing.
