The author in this article suggests that the future CEO of Dell doesn't mix words. I'm not one to mix words either. The Dell smell has bothered me since the first ad was published that captured computer buyer's attention. Do you remember it? It was a building with a computer dealer sign and then a single line cross through it.

I became increasingly bothered when they published sales numbers on the internet - picked up by the press wolves - that stated Dell was selling a million dollars worth of hardware a month on their internet site.

Only the insiders knew that the Dell site was crashing. They reached their ficticious number by 'closing' a 5 million dollar deal in an email. The 5 million dollar figure was then stretched out over the time period. Yep, 1 million a month.

When they revised the numbers because SEC filings were coming - no members of the press put one word down. The Dell smell was clearly established.

It is why I don't care whether Dell ever picks up a Tablet PC product line with their name on it. Who cares! They'll just ruin the market. And who needs that? Not me.

OK, go read the article and I'll quit complaining.
