Motion M1400 Tablet PC

I'm always amazed how far someone will go to drive home a lame and stupid point. Price.

Price is not an issue for purchasing or not purchasing a Tablet PC. Let's look at the latest from Tom Dunlap, pcmag.com.

And although tablets in general have come down in price since they first arrived on the scene, the new Motion will still set you back $1,999--too costly for many.

Oh what crap !

I used to sell a 300 MB hard drive for $3,000. It was the best deal in the area for that time period and many of them were sold. The average price of a 286 with 1 MB of RAM and a big 40 MB hard drive (plus a slick 14" sVGA monitor) was $3,500. And the average purchase was done by someone who was just learning about a PC and wanted to give their child something for school. Several PCs a day were purchased by these pioneers.

In other words, Get Real. $1,999 is cheap for new technology.

(1) Compare it to a notebook. Take the cost of the notebook and add the cost of the digitizer and OS. Now the price looks amazing.

(2) Compare it to a pocket PC which can do less than 1/10 the job. Therefore, take the average price of a pocket pc and multiply it by ten. Guess what? Suddenly the price for a Tablet PC should be over $3,000. Yeah, Tablet PCs are inexpensive for the techology.

OK? So, now it's your choice to continue to believe the draconian words spun by neophytes of this industry. Price is never a factor. Repeat it. Chant it. Flaunt it.

Here is the ONLY rule for technology:

If you can use the technology now then get it now.

Tablets hard to swallow

And since I'm ranting, let's look at this piece of drivel. It's filled with old news, old stories, and old finger pointing nonsense. The reporter should pull the head out of the southern part of the body.

OK, here is the truth.

Each time these stories run sales for the Tablet PCs drop. It then takes a few good positive reviews and sales start again.

Last week - I was a witness to strong sales. STRONG Tablet PC sales. Universities, Hospitals, Developers, etc. They are all opening up to the Tablet PC format.

So, next time you see this crap -- write the author and suggest they learn to get off their chair and verify a story. Then again, you can just fire them and not read anything they write.

Motion M1400

Now in this article about the Motion M1400, you'll find no opinion.

The M1400 Tablet PC is a lightweight, slate-style tablet design with a long battery life and is designed for use on the move, according to Motion. The system is based on Intel's new 1.1GHz ultra low voltage Pentium M processor.
