next best thing. I might suggest he try the second generation Tablet PCs, with 802.11g, bluetooth, handwriting recognition, speech recognition, and the ability to share files. However, he missed one item - instant on. I hate waiting 3 minutes before I can use an application. Give me instant on - now.
Regardless of my pouting about waiting for the unit to get ready for me, his premise is correct. Tech companies are struggling because they are not being innovative but rather giving us that $1 old hit - as he calls it. Give us something dazzling - award winning in the truest sense. Dazzle us.
The industry has forgotten how similar to Hollywood it is. The big money in movies and tech is made from the "new and exciting". People will pay $15 a head to see the latest blockbuster, while yesterday's hits rent out at $1 a week.
If Hollywood stopped making new hits, it would go out of business. That's what the tech industry seems to have decided to do. Instead of investing in the "new and exciting", they're hanging around in the $1 weeklies section talking about "ROI", "release 8.0" and "business focus".
