Ingram to distribute Averactec C3500 Tablet PC

Ingram Micro has signed an exclusive UK distribution deal with fledgling laptop manufacturer Averatec, to help it build market share.

The deal will see the broadliner focus on the mail order and SME market on behalf of the vendor, which has already notched up considerable success in the US with its thin and light notebook range.

Initially Ingram will sell four products: two 12in notebooks - the AMD Sempron-powered 3260 and the Intel Centrino 3300 - the C3500 Tablet PC and the 15in 6240, which is a combined DVD player and computer.

Andy King, UK general manager at Averatec, said: "No one in the UK has heard of Averatec. It is owned by Trigem, which is the third-largest PC manufacturing company in the world, making PCs for other brands such as Gateway in the US and eMachines in the UK.
