| Agilix Announces Availability of .NET Note-Taking Controls for Windows XP Tablet PC Agilix Labs, Inc., a leading provider of mobilized software and Tablet PC solutions, today announced the general availability of InfiNotes, the first commercial-quality note-taking controls that make it easy to add digital ink to any new or existing application that leverages the .NET Framework. InfiNotes was developed through a partnership with Microsoft Corporation. InfiNotes is a software development framework and visual control suite that enables developers, independent software vendors and systems integrators to rapidly build digital ink applications for the Tablet PC. The product significantly reduces the amount of time it takes developers to build note- taking functionality, thereby allowing them to focus their application development efforts on their core feature set instead. InfiNotes integrates directly into the Visual Studio Environment enabling rapid drag-and-drop integration into existing and new projects. InfiNotes also improves consistency of the ink note-taking user interface across all the Tablet PC applications an organization may develop, simplifying the user interface and minimizing user training. "Many application developers want to add ink note-writing capability in their applications to support the Tablet PC," says Curt Allen, president and chief executive officer of Agilix. "The challenge, however, is that it is quite difficult to do. We've built our Tablet PC expertise right into the new note-taking controls. Now any developer can add powerful note-taking functionality in their application in days instead of months, and they can do it for a fraction of the cost." "We're excited about the release of InfiNotes through our partnership with Agilix," said Bill Mitchell, Vice President of the Mobile Platforms Division at Microsoft, which has responsibility for Tablet PC OS development. "Now all .NET Framework-based applications can easily support one of the more common request we have heard, integration of ink based note-taking. Agilix has proven success and thought leadership on the Tablet platform and InfiNotes will certainly drive a significant increase in the number of Tablet PC applications available in the market." The product is available in two versions: Standard and Professional. The Standard Edition enables basic ink note-taking with Windows Journal-like features to be added to Windows applications. The .NET Framework controls support standard ink writing tools-pens, highlighters, lasso and eraser with an integrated toolbar, background ink recognition, undo/redo, cut/copy/paste and format dialogs. The Standard Edition offers dynamic page sizing, scrolling, pre-built stationary, and supports background images and color. It includes the ability to search ink with a find first/find next dialog, drag and drop ink notes into other ink-enabled applications, copy ink as text with a correction dialog, and import Journal files. The Professional Edition extends the standard controls to add text note- taking (using a keyboard) with rich text formatting along with ink support. It adds free-form text boxes, multi-page notes, ink-to-text conversion, zoom in/zoom out, and support for note flags to highlight important items. This edition also includes the ability to embed pictures and graphics, and convert free-form drawn objects into vector-like shapes. An ePaper feature enables users to save any document through a print driver, allowing pen annotation of the document using the included pen editing tools. Since the Standard Edition is provided to any developer free of charge, its widespread adoption can enable the InfiNotes ink file format to be an interchange standard for ink notes interoperability. Both controls can be easily integrated with Visual Studio .NET 2003, using Windows Forms and Web Forms applications. It can be used with any .NET Framework language, such as Visual C# .NET 2003, Visual Basic .NET 2003, and Visual C++ .NET 2003. Gregory Varghese, President of Jade-Designs.net and one of the 600 developers who participated in Agilix's beta test of InfiNotes, said: "We've had serious interest in building applications for the Tablet PC for some time. The problem was the available tools were much too complex and had an extremely steep learning curve to use. Then we found InfiNotes. InfiNotes is one of the few development tools that implements the most important philosophies in its design: ease of use, power, and features galore. Setting up a Windows Journal clone took all of 5 minutes with the included samples and documentation. InfiNotes will easily become a driving force in developing the majority of future Tablet PC applications. No other solution even comes close to the features and flexibility offered by InfiNotes." InfiNotes was developed through a partnership between Agilix and Microsoft Tablet PC team, in which Microsoft jointly collaborated with Agilix on the functional requirements. As part of this partnership, Microsoft agreed to provide market co-op funds to assist Agilix in marketing InfiNotes to Windows XP developers, while Agilix agreed to provide compatibility of InfiNotes with .NET Framework 2.0, Visual Studio 2005 and Longhorn. Agilix has extensive experience developing applications that fully leverage the Tablet PC, while still working well on any Windows XP PC. Currently, Agilix has released three core "Pen Perfect" applications, including: 1) GoBinder, a mobilized course organizer for students; 2) and PlanPlus for Outlook and 3) PlanPlus for Windows for FranklinCovey. Agilix's expertise and knowledge of developing Tablet PC applications went into the building of the InfiNotes controls. Pricing and Availability Both InfiNotes Standard Edition and Professional Edition are available now. InfiNotes Standard Edition is available free of charge by downloading it at www.infinotes.com. Developer support for the Standard Edition is $295 per named developer. The Professional Edition may be purchased for $995 per named developer, which includes developer support. Both controls are available royaltyfree. For more information on InfiNotes, visit: www.infinotes.com.
