Tatung Introduces New Ultra-Light, Ultra-Slim Tablet PC Series

At the VSLive/Microsoft Mobile Developers Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco, Tatung Science and Technology will introduce its first entry into the tablet PC market, with the release of its new model TTAB-B12D 12.1 inch tablet PC. The new hand-held unit can be configured with either an Intel(R) Pentium(R) Mobile LV 1.4GHz - processor with 1MB L2 cache; an Intel(R) Pentium(R) Mobile ULV 1.0 GHZ, 1.1 GHz or 1.2 GHz processor with 1MB L2 cache; or an Intel Celeron M ULV 900MHz processor with 512K L2 cache. The TTAB-B12D weighs only 3.08 lbs and is .73 inches thick, keeping the system manageable and easy to carry for a variety of remote or mobile computing applications. It can be operated either by using a stylus for handwriting, sketching or mark-up, or with an optional keyboard or docking station.

High Performance Configurations with Built in Biometric Fingerprint Security

A unique security system limits unauthorized access the new Tatung tablet through Omni Pass AP biometric fingerprint recognition. With the integrated OmniPass software, access to the system is controlled by a sensor that requires users to swipe a finger to access password-protected Web sites, programs, and other log-ons that can be configured by users or administrators. The TTAB-B12D tablet includes one user expandable memory slot (SO-DIMM slot); a 12.1" XGA TFT LCD display; an electromagnetic digitizer, allowing 133 samples/sec, at 0.001 mm (2540ppi) resolution; a 2.5" 30GB//60GB hard disk drive; and 10/100 Ethernet on the motherboard.

For communications, the tablet features WLAN 802.11a/b/g or b/g via Mini PCI; a 56K V.92 Modem card; and IrDA on the motherboard. I/O Ports include VGA out; DC-in; USB 2.0x2; IEEE1394; Headphone out; Microphone in; Modem Port; LAN Port; Docking Port and KBD Stand Interface. Audio support is AC-97 Rev 2.2/2.3/Azalia compliant with integrated stereo speakers and an integrated full duplex microphone; and an optional array microphone. The unit also includes a card bus slot for Type I/II, Mini-PCI, MDC.

Lightweight and Long Battery Life

Unit dimensions and weight are 9.13"x11.92"x0.73"; 232mm (W) x 303mm (H) x 18.6mm and 3.08lbs (1.4Kg). It includes a Lithium Ion (5400mAh @7.4V) battery pack with up to 4hr battery life (depending on configuration and applications) with a 6-cell battery pack; support for S3 hot swap features and an AC adapter 12V DC power supply. Standard accessories include an AC adapter, power cord, stylus pen, pen tether, quick start guide and recovery CD, a 6-cell battery pack and a detachable keyboard stand. Optional accessories include a 10-cell extended battery pack that holds power for up to six hours, an external battery charger, slim USB keyboard, RF mouse, docking station, slipcover, carrying bag and wire stand.

Docking Station Allows Different Viewing Angles

Using the optional docking station, the TTAB-B12D can be rotated 90 degrees, allowing users to view the tablet in portrait or landscape format. When the tablet is rotated on the cradle, the on-screen image also automatically rotates, and it can be inclined for four different viewing angles.
