| Electronic paper: just a pipe ream? In essence, the tablet PC is a Windows desktop with just one major change implemented across applications and the operating system: pen-based input is seen as a major (if not usually sole) method of input. This makes the tablet much more paper-like than a notebook PC, or even a handheld device; while most handhelds use pen input, this is essentially supplementary, since the largest single source of data of information is data synchronised from a PC or network.
