Lora, Loren and I will be spending the full four days in Las Vegas for the 2005 International CES trade show, from January 6 - 9. We will have seven different Tablet PCs to use during the trade show. They will be used while walking the floor, listening to speeches, during interviews, and for sharing information during gatherings. By the end, we will have a fairly good idea how to use the Tablet PC effectively during such a large event.

Information is extremely compressed during the four days of the show such that all of us found ourselves exhausted after last year's CES. It took quite some time to decompress and then process all of the new information we gathered. This year we are getting better prepared for the event. A goal will be to walk the trade show floor with the Tablet PC and enter information so that it is organized for further digestion later.

Loren is making sure one of his rigs has a webcam. He was able to snap pictures of the product and keep notes with these images quickly last year. But he's figuring out ways to improve things for this year.

I'm going to be using OneNote 2003, a nine dollar webcam, a five megapixel digital camera and the built-in Tablet PC microphones to capture audio as the product is being described to me. I hope to use the Tablet PC effectively during the different interviews that are planned so that I walk away with audio, video, still images, and handwritten notes. Because of the large amount of digital data, I expect to offload some of this onto CDs. My evenings will be spent reviewing and sorting the days notes.

Lora is always organized with her notes. She's a walking encyclopedia of Tablet PC facts. However, she confided that the Tablet PC Events she is planning pushes her Toshiba M200. She can talk faster than she types, which is faster than she writes. It'll be interesting if she adds audio to her notes this year.

The four main markets we will be watching this trade show will be media servers, portable entertainment, online gaming, and telematics. Each of us will use the Tablet PC to gather the facts and press releases as we walk the trade show.
