Here is a theoretical scenario. It is pure fantasy. What would you do if you were given $100,000 for one year to promote Tablet PCs with the goal of doubling sales within 12 months?

500,000 Tablet PCs sold in the first year they were on the market. We’ll use 500,000 for a general number (the actual number of Tablet PCs sold in 2004 will be higher), so your goal is to increase sales to 1 million units per year.

What would you do to double sales? Would your plan include several approaches or focus on one? Would you generalize or target a specific audience? Let's focus on specifics. I'll start you off with a some examples.

Achieving 500,000 and then 1 million sales in two years will probably only involve a small part of my industry. But eventually, tablet pc systems will be ubiquitous and integral to greater production control with fewer superintendents.

Successful adoption will be, in large part, the computing ergonomics and functionality that...Wow!..out performs previously used tools such as, legal note pads, 3 and 4 ringed-binders, job and office files, blueprints, planners and job schedules.
