Some people write for the sake of a reaction while others write because they think they have something important to say. But this paragraph caught my attention. Why is it included?

Possibly. The last big innovation in PCs - and I'm using the term 'big' loosely here - was something called the tablet PC. It allowed users to write data directly on the screen. Sort of a PDA with full computing power.

I can't say for sure how popular those were, but a quick look around at the airport leads me to suspect that the figure is somewhat less than manufacturers had hoped for.


First, why is this past tense? Second, would you ask me - a California resident - to look out my window and tell you the weather in Alaska?

Call me stupid but isn't that the same as concluding Tablet PCs aren't selling -because you don't see them at an airport on the day and time you happen to be looking? Seems so silly that I must be missing something.

Looks like the PC's best years are behind it
