LARKSPUR, Calif., Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/-- One of the few software
applications designed for both how and why people use tablet PCs, Mindjet's visual tool for brainstorming and planning has been named a finalist for Best Mobile Product in the 19th Annual Codie Awards.

MindManager 2002 for Tablet PC
( http://www.mindjet.com/us/products/tablet_pc/tablet_pc.php ), a pen-enabled version of Mindjet's popular desktop PC application, was released April 30. It is available on Hewlett-Packard, ViewSonic and Acer tablet PCs.

Ed Sullivan, president of a $1.7-billion industrial supply group, says Mindjet's business-mapping software enabled his company to make in four days the kind of business decision that used to take three weeks. Sullivan first used MindManager for Tablet PC to take notes during a meeting with a major distributor. "After the meeting, I added my own observations to the [MindManager] map, then worked on it on my flight home. By the time I landed I had a finished document that visually mapped out the business opportunity."

The next day Sullivan exported the map to Microsoft(R) Word and PowerPoint(R), and e-mailed both documents to the distributor. He used a shorter version of the presentation to guide his company's decision on the opportunity itself.

"Before I started using MindManager, it would have taken me a week to organize my notes, another week to analyze the opportunity, then one more week for us to digest everything and come to a decision. In general, MindManager for Tablet PC has easily made me at least 25 percent more efficient." Developing a tablet application challenged the Mindjet team. "We knew our visual interface made perfect sense for the tablet PC," says company co-founder Mike Jetter. "But as we finished development, we realized the application still wasn't fully tablet PC-enabled. So we went back and created a set of 18 natural pen commands. We take the Codie nomination as another indication that the final MindManager for Tablet PC is a truly mobile solution."
