| Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form Setup: Motion Computing 1400 Tablet PC as a client on a Small Business Server 2000 SP1 network connecting to the server both via 100Mb Ethernet and 802.11G router. Issue Description: When we use a custom form to forward SPAM emails as attachments, Outlook 2003 will crash when we insert the email attachments, or when we send the form with the attached emails, or when we delete the SPAM from its original folder after sending the form with the attached emails. Usually the form crashes on the first attempt at inserting the SPAM into the form as attachments. On the second attempt usually we can insert the SPAM as attachments and send the email to our SPAM filter vendor. Then it will crash when the SPAM is deleted from its respective folder. After Outlook 2003 restarts, the SPAM has been deleted. This behavior occurs when the Tablet PC is connected to the network via wire or via wireless router. This behavior does NOT occur with Outlook 2003 on a Windows 2000 desktop using the exact same form and technique. I have recreated the form several times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003. Neither of these two maneuvers has worked. Does anyone have any suggestions? Phil F |

| Re: Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form Chris, I worked the problem thoroughly with the Microsoft.private.directaccess.outlook-exchangeclient partner newsgroup. The forms problem only occurs on my Tablet PC. It crashes Outlook 2003 if I use the Organizational or the Personal forms library. The form works fine on desktops. The moderator of the group directed me to post in this group. I would appreciate any ideas to solve this problem. | Re: Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form Chris, Another problem: I cannot open an Excel spreadsheet created in Office XP on my Tablet PC with the Excel version in Office 2003. I can open the same spreadsheet with Office 2003 on my desktop however. Once again the Tablet PC seems to be the common denominator for the problem. Any ideas? | Re: Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form Phil, I move spreadsheets around from desktop to Tablet to desktop (tracking my fantasy football team, no big deal) without a problem. You are in a user account which is a member of the Admin group, right? Second, try going into Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, find the listing for your Microsoft Office installation, and tap that entry. Tap the Change button, then do a Repair install on Office. After completing, restart your system. Third thing, if the Repair doesn't fix the issues in Office, go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer and tap the Application listing in the left pane. This will reveal "events" in the right pane, and you should take a look for either yellow triangles with black exclamation points or red circles with white X's. If there are any such entries, right-click them and select Properties. This will reveal a portion of the issue, and the text will possibly lead to where the problem exists. If none in the third item, when was the last time you did a thorough check of your system using your anti-virus program with the latest definitions? Have you recently run any Trojan, spyware, malware or parasite detection software like AdAware? If not, you may want to look at this information: www.aumha.org/secure.htm. -- Chris H. | Re: Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form Chris, Sorry for the delay. I just returned from a trip. I have both repaired and reinstalled Outlook 2003 and the entire Office 2003 suite several times with no resolution to this problem. | Re: Motion 1400 Tablet Outlook 2003 Crash Using a Form I haven't a clue from that information, Phil. I honestly think you should post to the microsoft.public.excel newsgroup (or one of them, since there's about eight or so). They'd probably be able to tell you instantly what's happening. -- Chris H.
