With the IBM/Lenovo notebooks you can customize your keyboard functions
using the IBM Keyboard Customizer Utility application that should be
installed with your Thinkpad notebook computer.

It can also be downloaded free from the IBM website.

You can then assign the right alt key, or right ctrl, left shift, right
shift, left alt, left ctrl key as the Windows key, and also the application
key (also known as the right click menu key).
