Broken power adapter, tablet, or both? My HP Tablet PC tc1100 is NOT working. It does not turn on. It was working fine, then I left the PC, came back hours later, and I could not turn it on. The "on/off" switch was blinking, but it would not turn on. Also the "power source" button was blinking sometimes. Now, however, it does not even blink. I have run through basic troubleshooting steps as instructed by the HP help desk. I have a feeling this may be the power adapter because of the fact that I USE to at least get a blinking light, now its dead completely -- no blinking or any sign of life

Did HP have you disconnect the adapter and remove the battery for a bit? Does your adapter have an LED on it? My ViewSonic's does, but my Motion's doesn't. Have you ever had any trouble charging the battery? Do you have a docking station?

Thanks for the help Yes. I have disconnected the adapter and removed the battery as a troubleshooting step. That did not work. Does your adapter have an LED on it? My ViewSonic's does, but my Motion's doesn't. LED? Is that the "box-like" part of the adapter that connects the two wires? If so, then yes. I do not have a docking station. My Tablet PC is under a three year warranty, so I think I will be able to get it fixed/replaced for a minimal fee, perhaps, though.. I will buy a new power adapter first..to see if THAT is the problem. Oh by the way, can one use other HP adapters on my HP Tablet and NOT screw anything up? I have a friend who has another HP laptop, but could his power adapter work for my tablet? Any risk involved? (I would hate to mess up his laptop ) Last edited by Blaze991; 09-03-2006 at 12:00 PM..

Re: Broken power adapter, tablet, or both? Did you ever get this resolved? Until recently, my TC1100 went into, and came out of, hibernate as expected. Now it will hibernate with power switch, shut down sequence or based on power settings, but power switch does not initiate resume from hibernate. Like a rat in a psychologist's experiment, I tried a variety of button combinations and durations. I stumbled on a combination that works every time. Press the display toggle button (power switch turns red), slide and hold power switch, press and hold display toggle button until power switch turns green (a second or two) and release, release power switch. After recently installing software, I DID modify several Windows "services" settings to reduce processor load to speed things up, but I couldn't find any information online that indicated which services may affect hibernate. Any help would be appreciated. Last edited by justG4now; 12-19-2006 at 04:16 AM..
