I have a client who's on the road alot. he bought a M1400 and wants to connect to the internet while on the road through his cell phone. I've read other posts about buying an expansion card for the tablet for mobile dialup, but is it possible to dial through a cell phone? If so, can someone point me in the right direction to get some instructions??? THANKS!

| AT&T Cellular AT&T stores have two solutions for anyone wanting to connect to the internet. They have a usb cable to specific models of their phones. They also have pcmcia slot card that can allow the unit to connect directly to the internet. Neither technology is going to be fast. Consider the best connection to be about 3 times a 56 K modem and as low as a 28.8k connection if the area coverage is poor. Now, both technologies are to be superseded by faster technology in the next 6 months (fall time schedule for announcements and therefore winter by the time it is really available). Now, I'm not sure about other cellular companies, I just knew about these options because I asked the AT&T representative last weekend.

an alternative? Someone told me that one of the phone companies can provide a satellite connection to the wireless so that you can go directly online without having to dial in via a landline or cellphone.... is that possible? Don Spencer

Well, there is the PCMCIA service through cell phone carrier too. I saw something that associated Motorola V60 with T-mobile, so flipped over to T-mobile's site. You can see their Internet plans online. and they have two parts for mobile PCs. (You'll want to double check what carrier the person uses.)

The Motorola accessory page for the V60 has USB Connect Data Kit PCC8500 (CFLN1506AC) Connect your computer to your cellular phone to send and receive data over the GSM/GPRS cellular networks (subscription to data services required) and use the TrueSyncŪ software to synchronize your PC, your phone and your PDA (Palm OS & Pocket PC/Windows CE based devices). TruesyncŪ software is compatible with Microsoft Outlook 97/98/2000 & Lotus Notes (5.0 to 5.6). Access Internet over GPRS*. Synchronize your phonebook. Compatible Windows 98/2000/ME. * Network and subscription dependent service required.
