Gateway CX210s and Flash: The Follow Up

So my new Gateway convertible/tablet laptop has arrived and over all, i am very happy with it. I havent really had the chance to play with it too much today since i received it at work, but i did get to try out 2 software packages i am going to be using alot on this system.

The first program I installed was Photoshop CS2. I also installed the SHIM i downloaded from [ FinePoint Innovations | Pen Computing Solutions ] to help with the pressure sensitivity, and when i loaded it up, i was able to draw with no problems. I have to push a little harder than i am used to with my wacom tablet, but i have a feeling that the pen will break in nicely and this really wont present an issue.

I was not nearly as successful with Macromedia Flash 8 Professional. I installed the program, and when i tried drawing in the program, i found that the finepoint technology does not react to pressure sensitivity in Flash, atleast not without some sort of patch or shim. I even tried installing the Photoshop shim in with the macromedia flash drivers, and to my suprise the button in Flash that allows you to toggle between pressure sensitivity and no sensitivity became available, but even after turning the button on, i experienced no change.

If ANYONE knows of, or hears of a patch or shim that will resolve this issue with Macromedia Flash Pro 8 I would be forever indebted if you could pass on this information to me =)

As for anyone who might be interested in using Photoshop on this machine, i say that for around a 1000 bucks, this is a fantastic solution.

Keep me posted on the shim/patch....and i will do the same.
