Stylistic 4120P

Hi-

I just bought a stylistic 4120P on ebay.

Does anyone know if this thing can have windows xp tablet pc edition installed onto it? I'm told that it originally had windows 2000 on it.

I'm afraid that this won't be elligible for the tablet pc edition because it doesn't have the digitizer function (hence the "p" <passive> on the model number). But I'm hoping one of you wise people would know.

Currently, it has win xp pro installed.

If I can't get tablet pc edition onto it, what are my options? Any 3rd part software I can install to get handwriting capabilities?

thanks.

Re: Stylistic 4120P

you can try PenX, third party handwriting software for NT & 2K, works in XP too. it is Ok:

when I was using a tablet full time I used MessagEase:

MessagEase Onscreen Keyboard

It is optimized, one easy stroke per character, based on high freq characters . There are different versions for diff languages, obviously the high freq chars change when changing language.

Once I got used to it it was muuccchh faster than handwriting recognition.

you can grab this zip of mine and dig out PenX if you want:

PenX is buried a little bit, it is under /Drivers/Digitizer

I tried installing XP TE on mine, but could not get the pen to work. I believe TE is for active digitizers only.
