| Questions about the Fujitsu Stylistic 500 I recently bought a Stylistic 500 at a garage sale, and I'm fasinated with it. For those unfamiliar, it's a 468 DX-2 50mhz tablet with a monochrome screen. Right now it's running Windows for Pen Computing 1.0. My main goal is to install windows 95 and get my pcmcia wireless card working with it. Unfortunately I don't have the external floppy drive. My first question is, does anyone know if the floppy drive for the stylistic 1000 will work with the 500. I've seen some of these on ebay. Otherwise, does anyone know where I can find a good price for a floppy that will work. I've pretty much come to accept that I'm not going to get very far without a floppy drive. My other question, does anyone have experience installing an OS on a pcmcia drive from another computer. For example, could I find a USB Device that allows me to plug a pcmcia hard drive into my laptop and install Windows 95 onto the harddrive. I don't know how that works, with the boot sector and registry. Unfortunatley my laptop only has one pcmcia slot, and it doesn't work. Or, if someone has a better suggestion to achieve my many objective, it would be much appriciated.

| I'm going thru similar situation on a stylistic ltp600. I don't know if I can install the os on another machine. I tried it by switching my hd to a laptop, all worked fine with the new os on the laptop but not when i switched the hd back to the tablet. I got a new hd to play with. I imaged the hd that I know works, then will drop the old hd in a laptop and load on that image on it via the network. The I want to try to load XP or at least win2k by A. loading on the laptops cd, or B. dropping that hd back in the tablet and loading from a mapped network drive. So at least I've got a new hd that work if the whole thing doesn't work. I once tried a little usb pcmcia dongle thingy but didn't work. I guess just a usb prob? I just don't knowhow to fix. some usb stuff works, some doesn't . I know win98 has usb support issues. |
