PenX

Sorry to read about your problems with the machine that you own. However, there is some name confusion. In order for a Tablet PC to qualify as a Tablet PC then it must use certain hardware and the MS Windows XP for Tablet PC Edition. The Fujitsu Stylistic 3400 is a pen tablet with a passive digitizer and will not run the Tablet PC software on the Microsoft pages designed for Tablet PCs.

With that said, what version of Penx are you using?

In the meantime, don't forget to check out the pen tablet support pages by Fujitsu.

Exclamation

Zoolie

I also have a Fujitsu 3400 which I just upgraded to win 2000 pro. I am getting the same error, did you ever sort this out? fujitsu 3400's came with win nt or 2000. so we are simply missing something! I did notice in device manager under other hardware 2 devices show up with question marks.when you check properties they reflect "on Intel(r) 82440MX PCI to ISA Bridge" and all other hardware works fine with no conflicts. im assuming its the digitizer drivers that are missing? maybe we can figure this out?

Allan

Red face fix for tablet not initialized

This is because the PenX driver is not yet installed to work with the updated pen driver. Click OK. (PenX Driver Install): Install the PenX filter driver 1. Open the Mouse applet in the control panel. 2. Select the Hardware tab in the applet. 3. In the Devices list, select the Fujitsu Stylistic 3400 Pen device. 4. Click the Properties button. The driver properties dialog will be displayed. 5. Select the Driver tab. 6. Click the Update Driver button. This launches the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard. 7. Click the Next botton. 8. Select Display a list of the known drivers … 9. Click the Next button. This displays Select a Device Driver dialog. 10. Click on the Have Disk button. This displays the Install from Disk dialog. 11. Click on Browse button. This displays Locate File dialog. 12. Select the Moufiltr.Inf file in the “C:\Program Files\CIC” folder. Note that the file extension may not be displayed in the locate dialog. 13. Click Open button. This gets you back to Install from Disk dialog with “C:\Program Files\CIC” folder selected for Copy manufacturer’s files from option. 14. Click OK button. This gets you back to Select a Device Driver dialog. 15. Click Next button. Update Driver Warning dialog is displayed with Installing this device driver is not recommended… message. Click Yes to proceed. 16. Start Device Driver Installation dialog is displayed. 17. Click Next button. Digital Signature Not Found dialog is displayed. Click Yes button to proceed with installation. This dialog will not be displayed once the CIC driver is WHQL signed. 18. Files Needed dialog may be displayed. From the pull down list for Copy files from option, select the “C:\FPC\INSTALL\PENDRV”. 19. Click OK button. The driver will be updated and Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog will be displayed. 20. Click the Finish button. This takes you back to the Driver Properties dialog. 21. Click the Close button. You will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Yes to restart the computer. Note that in case you are not prompted to restart computer, it is recommended that you do restart your computer. 22. When the computer restarts, there should be no warning messages related to pen and the pen and PenX should be working.

Allen,
Congratulations on your success.

I am having a similar problem, but mine is a fresh install of Win2K. Now attempting to follow your instructions with a little improvisation…

I have my old HD untouched, and am able to salvage x:\Program Files\CIC\mousfltr.inf

But I do not have a directory that matches your instruction x:\FPC\Install\Pendrv

Is pendrv a directory, if so what files are in it? Are they available from Fujitsu under the NT4.0 downloads section, maybe?

... A little later:

After reformating your instructions with some line feeds, I re-read them and decided that the significant word of line 18 was "may" and decided to risk it with only the contents of the CIC directory.

Everything seemed to work, the pen behaves like a mouse, as it did, but I still have no way to toggle to inking mode. As the NT install had an icon in the system tray that enabled this.

Do you have this working on 2K, Is it some resident excutable that i need from the old harddrive? Any info would be appreciated.

I'm following Allan's instructions as listed above. However, when I get to step #3, the enly device listed is the PS/2 Compatible Mouse -- there's no Pen listed. How do I get the Pen listed as a device?

How to Make the Pen work

I have a stylistic lt c-500, assuming you have the same problem I ran into. There were 2 Unknown Devices. Both were part of the 82440mx Bridge. 1 of them is the "Fujitsu 3400 Pen", and the other is a Custom Driver called "Windows 2000 fujitsu driver" Which lets you use the sas.exe. This file, when place in your c:\winnt\ folder installs a tray icon which emulates Alt+Ctrl+Delete for you. After Installing the driver you need to manually copy sas.exe to WINNT and put a shortcut to it in your Start Menu. Ok, out of the 2 Unknow Devices the top one is usually the Fujitsu 2000 driver and the Bottom one is the Pen.

goto http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/support.do

Select your Product, Series, Model and download Win2K's Pen driver and FPC Utility drivers.

Extract these file to say EX. c:\drivers\FPC and c:\drivers\Pen

Do Update Driver on the Bottom Unkown Device.

Do not let windows search for it, you need to use Install From A Specific List...

Then find "Other Devices" and hit next

Then "Have Disk" and browse to you c:\drivers\pen\ folder.
It will show Fujitsu 3400 Pen Driver.

Now do the same for the other unkown device except point it to c:\drivers\FPC.

You CAN manually add the FPC driver and just delete the Unknown Device. Doesn't really matter. I believe this driver was a quick fix for the Alt+Ctrl+Delete combo using its own API. It'll will work Either way.

When all done, you can find the sas.exe in the c:\drivers\FPC\ folder. There is also Instructions in there.
These same methods work on an XP Service Pack 2 install that I have Loaded. So far I have installed the Pen driver... Working on the FPC Utility Driver now. Wish me luck :book:

Fresh install win2k on LT C-500 Pen not working!

Same here , the two unrecognized devices .. In my experience are one is the Advancd power management (the top entry in device manager) the secon I can only assume is the Pen/digitizer itself. I have tried both drivers on the Fujitsu website by using device manager to reinstall driver .. these drivers are NOT recognized.. has anyone gotten the digitized installed correctly from a fresh win2000 install.. please give instruction..

Thanks

OK After much effort I got it working, the reason for the confusion is that, (and I may have misunderstood the above instructions) In the remaining unrecognizd divice, which by the way IS the digitizer, you MUST force the driver throught the "add from list" method, goto "have disk" and voila.. then add the PenX suppliment by re-updating the driver but this time use the pointer control panel under hardware you will see the fujitsu pen driver now. which can be updated with CIC driver support for inking etc... hope my frustration helps you folks.

Re: Tablet is not initialised on win2000

Hi all. I recently purchased a Fujitsu LT C-500 on ebay for a real cheap price. After "attempting" to upgrade from the pre-installed Win2k to Win XP, I found out (of course after the fact) that I needed to actually KEEP the PenX software (unbeknownst to me, it is actually something I needed to get this to work). Needless to say, XP Tablet pc edition 2005 was nice, but the pen didnt work. I reinstalled Win2k (cleanly) and now I have all the pen drivers, but no PenX software. Is there any place where I can just buy it? I dont mind paying for it; I just wish I realized I had to keep it before wiping out the pc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
-Pete

Re: Tablet is not initialised on win2000

Ok I found out that apparently, I need a file called Moufiltr.Inf. I googled it and no luck. Any idea where I can find it? Also, what else is in the C:\Program Files\CIC directory?

Re: Tablet is not initialised on win2000

I have install the Pen on Fujitsu LT C-500 of Win2K.

i have change the driver on the PS/2-mouse with the driver Stylistic 3400 Pen on
C:\FPC\INSTALL\PENDRV

do you not reboot

the first unkown Hardware is the Fujitsu Driver not the Pen
the second unkown Hardware is the Pen

select the unknown Hardware change the driver
Select the Driver tab
Click the Update Driver button
Click the next botton
Select Display a list of the known driver
Select All Hardware komponents
Select Fujitsu PC Corporation and tab to Fujitsu Stylistic 3400 Pen
Click next button and install the driver

do you not reboot !!!!!!

deinstall the change PS/2 Mouse

calibrate the pen white PENCFG.CPL in the Folder c:\FPC\INSTALL\PenDrv

after the calibrate you can reboot the Tablet.

it's better you save the Hardware profile bevor you change the mouse driver !!!

Good luck
