| OneNote 2007 and the Dissertation This is my 2000th post to www.tabletquestions.com and so I wanted to write a little about my experiences with OneNote 2007 and my dissertation. The work started by creating a notebook just for the dissertation notes, thoughts, and copies of articles. As the copies of articles increased, new sections were created for each letter of the alphabet. The articles were arranged by the author's last name. This allows me to use the fast search across the articles. For example, if I am interested in school violence then a search will mark all of the articles with the keyword violence. The sidenotes are the next important productivity reasons for writing the dissertation in OneNote. As one window is open with the article, a sidenote is open so that I can record thoughts about the article. These notes are arranged into an annotated bibliography. The literature review (Chapter 2) of the dissertation is literally organized within the sidenotes. Challenges to this method include the lack of screen space. I prefer to have a large monitor hooked up so that I may easily read the pdf files. Yet, relaxing on the couch with an article is more enjoyable using the Tablet PC. The widescreen of the Gateway has been helpful in getting multiple pages onto the screen. I just wish the screen resolution was a bit better. The first chapter of the dissertation is to be completed by January 15, 2007. The second chapter is to be completed by March 15, 2007. Wish me luck
