C++ for Children

Scratch is a new programming language so young people (specifically for ages 8 to 16, but used by younger and older students) may develop their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share these creations on the web.

... young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.

There are 22,367 Scratch projects and 27,821 Scratch site members.

These developers describe for download educational ideas and provide papers about the thinking and research that support Scratch.

Scratch is available free of charge.

Kudos, and thank you, MIT and Scratch developers!
