St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, NJ, will be arranging for each freshman to have an HP Tablet PC on the first day of school.
In the 2005-2006 school year we embarked on becoming a 1-1 computing school by giving every freshman a Tablet pc. The 1-1 computing goal will be accomplished over the next four years as we enroll each new freshmen class.
All subject areas (except Religion) use the Internet and/or electronic access to their texts and supplemental resources.
Teachers have a webpage as a line of communication with students and parents.
Teachers and students use the software program “Discourse” to create quizzes and tests, which can be administrated to a class. Teachers can then get immediate feedback on assignments.
Students and teachers use Tablets regularly to take notes, complete class and homework assignments, access the internet for research, complete practice assignments, email each other and take tests.
Students must use word-processing to create and submit their work.
Students lease their Tablets for 4 years. The cost is part of their tuition. Students/families of 10-11-12 graders may purchase an HP Tablet PC outright.
