| Tablet recognizer on desktops (still a EULA violation?) Back in the day, there were threads like this: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...32a7e19a5d481b That indicated that while you could install a handwriting reco pack on a desktop PC for dev purposes, it was a EULA violation for production. However, MS has KB articles like this one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283160/ and: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306906 Which seem to indicate there is now support for this. Can MS comment on whether it's now acceptable to install handwriting recognition packs on desktops? |

| RE: Tablet recognizer on desktops (still a EULA violation?) Hi Chris, the KB articles you have linked below seem to be about the handwriting recognizers that ship in Office - not about the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 recognizers that ship in the 2005 Recognizer Pack. The 2005 Recognizer Pack can be licensed for comercial use. Please send enquiries about details to mtpisv at microsoft.com. In Windows Vista, the handwriting recognizers are installed by default on Vista Home Premium and higher. Thanks, Stefan Wick Microsoft - Windows Experience "Chris DiPierro" wrote: > Back in the day, there were threads like this: > http://groups.google.com/group/micro...32a7e19a5d481b > > That indicated that while you could install a handwriting reco pack on a > desktop PC for dev purposes, it was a EULA violation for production. > > However, MS has KB articles like this one: > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283160/ > and: > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306906 > > Which seem to indicate there is now support for this. > > Can MS comment on whether it's now acceptable to install handwriting > recognition packs on desktops? > > |

| Re: Tablet recognizer on desktops (still a EULA violation?) Thanks for the insight Stefan. Yeah, I agree the KB articles seem to reference Office, but it was a little unclear. We also knew about the Vista bundles, which is why we're hopeful about the Recognizer Pack on XP. I'll inquire offline, thanks! | Using Microsoft Reco Pack onto a XP Desktop system Dear Stefan, i wrote several mails to mtpisv@microsoft.com but none of them gets answered yet ;-) As much of my customers are still using XP we are interested in using the microsoft reco pack onto standard desktop pcs (no tablet pcs). Who is the correct person to talk to at Microsoft to get some clear informations on that. Further more it would be interesting, if it is allowed to use the reco pack onto a webserver as a service. (this of course could be based on vista) Hope the hearing from you or indead anyone from Microsoft regarding this issue thanks in advance Oliwan |
