Installing Tablet PC recognizers on XP home

Is this possible? I get the message "You are trying to install the
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack on an unsupported
operating system".

"Windows XP Service Pack 2" is listed as one of the supported
operating systems, but obviously that does not included Windows XP
Home Service Pack 2.

Any solutions? Any reasons for this restriction?

Thanks,

Nick Hartley

PS Please try and resist advising me to upgrade to Vista / XP Pro etc.

Re: Installing Tablet PC recognizers on XP home

If you plan on using this just for development then you can do the
following. I am not sure if this violates any MS license agreements.
Please read the EULA before trying.

Install the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack on XP Pro

Go to c:\program files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink

There are two files mshwusa.dll and mshgst.dll. (If you cannot find them
there search on XP pro machine and search for the files) Get them to
your home machine and register them using regsvr32.

You can now use the english and gesture recognizer on XP Home.

I have not tried it but have a feeling it might work. Hope it works!

Good Luck.
