John Battelle from Searchblog
makes 14 predictions, specifically stating company names such as Yahoo, Google, AOL, and eBay will make changes. My favorite prediction involves Yahoo -
5. Yahoo will not regain its luster, but will take the steps necessary to do so by the end of the year
Yahoo remains the number one search engine which drives traffic to the
Technology Questions discussion forums and these people do not bounce out on the same page they arrive. Google visitors usually hit one page and bounce. The same is true for
UMPC Buzz; therefore, I would hate to see them lose traffic. Instead, they seriously need to fix the search results.
Will I make any predictions? Yes.
(1) CES 2007 will be a success with companies announcing new Tablet PCs and UMPCs.
(2) Dell will release a Tablet PC. Apple will release a product which will compete with the Microsoft and Intel platform.
(3) New software for blogging will be released, changing the way bloggers update their sites and the way readers will find information on a site.
(4) A new technology only search engine will be announced (Not through Amazon) which will provide options for searchers looking for Product reviews, Specifications, Shopping Sites (Retailers), Manufacturers, Product announcements, etc. Besides fast search engine results, the engine will provide numerous advanced options for pinpointing sites. The slogan can be "
taking the goo out of search." Pst. NoGoo.com is registered but parked. Drats - that would have been a
cool name.
Disclosure: I paid the $300+ to have Tablet Questions listed in the Yahoo directory and was told no - but without a reason. After several phone calls, the company clearly was not interested in providing the reason or return the money. In other words, Yahoo could die as a company and my heart would not be broken. Ironic, eh?
