Computers should be about increasing productivity and not wasting time.
There is no doubt that I flip back and forth between accepting and rejecting the above statement. There are times that the computer is necessary to get a paper written, research online libraries, read textbooks, take notes, write posts for online classes, and keep notes on the TRN Network as well as personal notes. On the opposite side, I enjoy watching movies on my Tablet PC.
Unbox is a great place to get recent movie releases. Putting on a headset and having a movie play while I read and write, a picture in picture style of using the computer, is a perfect way to improve the working conditions. When a movie isn't available, playing downloaded songs from iTunes is good, too. I have not tried downloading from Zune but my oldest daughter loves her Zune (It appears to be permanently attached to her side).
Finding a balance between work and play may be more important than locking a computer into work only or game playing only. Maybe this is why my Tablet PC is on most of the time I am awake. Even while the television show American Idol is playing, my computer is on and I am tinkering.
Come to think of it, the more that I do with the computer, the more I want the computer to be faster. Isn't that what always drives you to make a new computer purchase? Yeah. Me, too.
