 Academic screencasting with a Tablet PC and Camtasia TechSmith has a growing base of colleges and universities using its Camtasia product to record classroom lectures. Stanford's Academic Technology Podcast series Episode 4 addressed how instructors can record lectures using PowerPoint, Camtasia, and a Tablet PC. Ed Carrier, Stanford faculty member who is using this combination during his lectures, provides information about getting started, as well as challenges. The podcast is from this spring, but the information is still very relevant. A transcript of this interview is also available. When asked what advice he'd give to faculty who would like to try screencasting, Ed Carrier replied, "Just go for it."
