High school Academic Decathlon coaches and students are dusting off copies of
The Red Badge of Courage, as the
2008 competition topic is the Civil War and the book is the selected reading. Tablet PC users can install
Microsoft Reader for Tablet PC and then download an eBook.
Windows Vista users should follow the special process for Microsoft Reader activation. Essentially, you will run IE as administrator, and then go to the URL to activate.
University of Virginia eBook library is my favorite eBook download spot.
Project Guttenberg is very easy and has a large selection also. Both have electronic versions of
The Red Badge of Courage for free, personal use.
If you're an adult just wanting to catch upon some classics, you can
listen to audio books. (Kids, read the book first.) Project Gutenberg has a growing selection of audio books that are in the public domain. I've downloaded several and listen to the MP3 versions on either a Tablet or UMPC.
Apparently audio books are growing in popularity and may have well exceeded success of eBooks to date. Do you have a preference?
