I was lamenting the other day that I did not have a quick way to jot something down on my Tablet PC. The problem is the small amount of space available on a 15-inch wide screen Tablet PC. I really prefer a good sized 22-inch monitor with a high screen resolution. There is nothing like having two documents open side-by-side and being able to work efficiently. Plus having multiple applications open is a pain when they cannot all be on the screen.
Post-itŪ Digital Notes software is a good compromise. With Post-itŪ Digital Notes software I am able to keep one document open and take notes. Later, the notes can be rearranged. The best part about Post-itŪ Digital Notes software is that I can open multiple notes quickly as well as pin these notes quickly. In fact, after spending a few days with the product, I am convinced of the increased productivity and will buy Post-itŪ Digital Notes software as soon as the 30-day trial is almost over.
Here is a screenshot of my desktop with a few notes open. The blue note in the corner is my To Do List. There are many features that are not being with the software on this machine because jotting down notes is the important one.

Here is a capture of a single note which was pinned as I was reading different news stories.
Why didn't I stick with OneNote 2007 and launch a new side-note from the taskbar? This is possible by changing the option in OneNote 2007 to have the application ready. There is even a pin icon on the side-note so that notes can be taken. However, the speed is a bit too slow on my Tablet PC. You might have a better experience and so you should give it a try.
Here is an .AVI file of using OneNote. Opening multiple notes at one time is possible and there is an added advantage of using digital ink. Yeah, this was my first attempt using the Snag-It capture and I was really just playing with the software.
Why didn't I just use the Sticky Notes? I want to type notes, whereas Sticky notes is digital ink or audio. If I was recording audio then Sticky Notes or OneNote would be great.
What software have you found works for taking notes while you have other applications open? If you were going to design your own notes application, what features would you add?
