Another conference I've wanted to go to over the last couple years, but keep missing is Office DevCon (Feb 10-13 in San Jose, CA). I see this morning that the conference planning is well underway and I missed the early bird price of $895. Hmmm. The current price is inching up to $1295. That probably blocks me this time around. Can't afford all these conferences fees. How I wish Microsoft would take an Apple approach here and have 1 day or 1 track passes that people like me could afford.
It's at events like this where I think we have the best chance for advocating for more ink support in Office products. The key decision makers are there and with a little bit of passion and some great 30 second demos, the point can come across quite strongly. Whether the big Office ship can adjust is another matter. But, hey, one step at a time!
(Oh and don't forget about PDC in your conference planning this year. This is one conference I don't want to miss. This year PDC will be held in Los Angeles on October 27-30. A must attend event.
