Robert Scoble has a video and high level view of how Google's Open Social API fits into social networks, blogs, and the like.
Me? I'm still digesting the docs. I do have a number one question: What about Silverlight? Will it work? I'd think so, but I haven't seen anything that says it will. I have heard comments that Flash works just fine. But nothing about Silverlight so far. I imagine someone will come up with a demo before the weekends out.
Is
Dave Winer right about the OpenSocial API?. I am groaning over a few things--use of Atom being one. Yeah, I'm not an Atom fan. Hmmm. This doesn't mean I'd never write to the Open Social API--I'm still learning.
Oh, and about Google's CampFireOne: The presentations were way too canned for a campfire-style presentation. I think it's best if Google goes back indoors and does their presentations there. In a campfire presentation I'd expect more real developer talk. This was too much of a dog and pony show. Also, when they showed code, I could barely read the snippets and when they showed the whole code it was just a blur. Gotta do better when you're talking with developers.
