Someone has posted this video on YouTube of a Taiwanese newscast that takes a look at the just announced Eee PC from ASUS.
The video is all in Mandarin, so I wasn't able to understand most of it.
I was only able to catch a few things, such as the $199 price, the fact that the Eee PC is thin and lightweight, and is "very cute." There's also a brief mention of September. I'm guessing that this is when the Eee will be available--however, during the same segment there's also talk about English countries and Taiwan, so maybe they're talking about a staggered release. Maybe someone who knows Mandarin can help us out if there's anything new here. Previous news reports have indicated that the Eee will be available in August or September.
The chairman from ASUS also is briefly interviewed and he basically says that he sees the Eee PC as the way for the company and Intel to reach the next billion users. The key is in keeping the cost low.
That's about all I could get from the video.
Update: Marauderz emailed over a clarification of what the reporter was saying about the dates:
"Productions starts in July, gonna hit western countries first, appears in Taiwan in Sept did not mention any actual US release dates."
Thanks,
Maruaderz!
