We are used to selecting multiple files at one time with keystrokes Shift-Down Arrow. This works well when the files you'd like to select are in a row, but what do you do when you do not have access to the keyboard and are only using touch or a stylus?

In Windows Vista there is a new Folder option to enable check boxes. Most likely this has been turned on by default on your Tablet PC or UMPC. But if by chance it is not, here are the steps to enable them:
1. Open a folder, like Documents, Pictures, Music, etc. I've opened Public Pictures.
2. Tap the
Organize button.
3. Select
Folder and Search Options from the menu and go to the
View tab.

4. Click
Use check boxes to select items, then click OK.

Check boxes are now enabled, making multi-file select even easier.

You can also access Folder Options from the Control Panel or Search box from the Start menu. In either case, just go to the search box and enter "Folder Options", and then you can open the dialog box directly.
