Should I buy one or not?

Played with it at CompUSA. Nice display and seemed fine.
Also $999 after 3000 rebate. Graet price.

Should I buy it? or is it just thorwing $$ away?

ThanKs,
Rob

Try it, and if you don't like it return it.

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you are looking for a lightweight slate, this is not it. If you want a high speed low drag gaming hot rod ,keep moving. If you need a capable laptop with tablet abilities, this one does the job.

Try it, and if you don't like it return it.
I've been happy with mine. I bought two in October 2004. It is now my primary PC both at home and at work. My wife is happy I bought her a laptop period. She uses it for school.

Simply put Price was the deciding factor for me.
My wife and I each have a Tablet PC for the price of 1 of the competing products at the time. The new low price Toshibas did not exist at the time. Might want to check them out if you have anther $500.

If I had a ton of cash I would have bought one of the larger screen convertibles out there. If $ were no object, I'd a bought a whole bunch of models and then kept the one I liked best.

It's a great computer, of coarse there are always better computers if you have more money, but as far as bang for your buck this is one of the best deals you can find. I love mine and would buy another if i had the cash.

The short answer is a simple yes to your first question and no to your second.

The averatec is a convertible. This means it can act as a notebook and a Tablet PC. It's the best of both worlds.

The DVD and memory configuration allowed my youngest daughter and I to watch a movie the other night on the unit. However, we hooked up an external set of speakers to get better volume.

You'll find the pen control to be smooth; however, the keyboard layout is weird with ctrl in the "wrong" place. It just takes getting used to the layout.

Good luck and let us know!
