| Built-in Mic? Hello, I read previous posts the C3500 has a built-in microphone? I am Not referring to the mic input located on the right side that connects you via a jack to an external microphone, instead a microphone that is built inside the C3500. I imagine it might be in the little peep hole below the pen holder. Averatec (tech) does not acknowledge the unit comes with it. Is there really a built-in Mic? If there is one, how can I get it to work? Thanks in adavance, Spectrum003 Last edited by Spectrum003; 09-03-2004 at 10:53 PM.. |

| There truly is a "Built-in Mic"! Well anyone reading this post I am about to answer my own question. Tonight I went to the local radio shack and purchased an external microphone, and connected to the C3500, it did not work. After sometime tinkering between the voice recognition and the onenote program it start to record (not sure what I did). At first I thought it was hardware however everytime I restarted the pc I could here my voice thru the speaker and just before window booted completely it would cut off. To my surprise after getting the external mic to work I unplugged it and confirm there is truely an internal mic just like I imagined it, right below the penholder in the little peephole. :w00t: BTW. The Averatec (Techs) flatly denies it comes with one and told me to lay off the medication and go buy an external mic and get busy, I did. Spectrum003 |

| Well how do you like them apples !?! Thank you for the information. How well does the microphone pickup sound? Can you compare the internal v the external microphone? Do a sound test - stand next to the unit, walk 2 feet, 5ft, 10ft, etc and see how well it does.

| Well, the internal mic will pick up fine caveat; when using the internal mic recommand using either external speakers, or headset. If you use the internal speaker will need to adjust the volume accordingly due to feedback. I might have turned off the echo cancellation, will tinker with the settings later. I also used an external headset with boom mic, since the mic is closer to the person it obviously sounded louder and clearer. The external mic would be ideal when using voice command or dictations. Still the option to use either is available esspecially in a crunch. Will update as I find out more Got to go.... Spectrum003 Last edited by Spectrum003; 09-06-2004 at 06:13 PM.. |

| Yup, I can confirm there is a built-in mic. I'm pretty sure it's located on the lower left side of the screen (when in laptop mode): it's just a little hole, directly to the right of one of the rubber "bumpers".
