But seriously, distributors are giving an end of August ETA for accessories of the Averatec C3500.

| I had the same problem. I called Averatec, and they don't have spare batteries available for purchase yet. He said they would...soon, and that I should keep checking the accessories page. I'm going on a trip next week, so I couldn't wait. I went to Best Buy yesterday and purchased the $199 Valence N-Power '5-hour' external battery. I don't think you get 5 hours with it alone (maybe combined with your internal battery), but it's expandable so you can add more power if needed. I just finished testing it, and it lasted about 2:15 hours while the tablet was on full-power settings (no power conservation used...screen on full brightness, etc). You use your tablet's AC adapter to charge it (and power the laptop at the same time), and then just unplug the N-Power battery from AC, and now this external battery powers your tablet like it's still on AC. The only note is that when you're charging the N-Power battery while running the laptop/charging its battery, your AC adapter will become very hot (after an hour), so don't have it buried under something. It took about 2 hours to charge it. The great thing is that you can purchase different tips for it, so this system will work with any laptop. Tip package NC-TP1 includes the S3, D2 tips for Averatec and other models. The 3500 is so new it wasn't listed specifically on the package, but all the other Averatec models use S3, D2, so I decided to try it. I've charged the N-Power battery and operated the tablet from it....okay so far. The left side of the tablet might be warmer when running on the N-Power battery. Negatives: 1) it's external. 2) might not last any longer than buying a second internal battery. 3) costs more money than internal battery. Positives: 1) you can charge it and the internal battery at the same time. The cost of a second internal battery plus battery charger might be close to what this costs. 2) not having to buy extra batteries and battery chargers for each new device for someone who owns multiple laptops or buys a new machine every year. 3) also works as a power source when swapping internal batteries Manufacturer: http://www.valence.com/ncharge2.asp Battery at Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....6&type=product Power & Charger Tips at Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....1&type=product |
