| I have Office 2003 on my system. I can click on a writing option and be able to switch between typing and writing. I've had this tablet for 4 months or so. I could never go back to a laptop. I would break it by accidently trying to write on it. It's worth the investment. I work with IT devs and engineers. They all have tablets. Many of which are Toshibas, Acers, and Compaqs. Theirs have better resolution but my screen still looks brighter. Plus I didn't have to re fi the house to buy it. |

Also, it is possible to IM and better still is skype. Many of the Tablet PCs have built in speakers and microphone giving you the ability to improve communication.

Thanks ps. Anyone know of a good utility that will allow for an exact disc image to be made? The cheaper the better.

| Well I purchased my tablet and I decided to gamble and try replacing one of the 256 Meg RAM chips with a 1 Gig RAM chip. Guess what! IT WORKS! I'm running 1.2 Gigs of RAM. I didn't have 2 Gig Chips to test the ultimate limit, but it appears that 1Gig limit is no longer the limit. Note I used low voltage RAM built for 64 bit AMD chips. I wouldn't advise doing this unless you know what you are doing and you don't mind risking the chance of frying your tablet. I agree with the other reviews, here are my opinions: Screen is very bright, but viewing angles are extremely limited, I often fine myself adjusting the angle screen based on my seating position. Hot, yes, but tolerable. Screen Resolution: You can change this to 1280x1024, but the resolution stays at 1024 x 768, the screen just scrolls back and forth. Sound is not too impressive, but it's not what I got the tablet for. Speaker placement though are ideal (one either side) since alot of tablets seem to want to position the speaker on top which becomes covered when you convert to a tablet form. Miss a card reader, but enjoy the optical drive. Those searching for a tablet want mobility, not carting around external devices. Battery life has been consistent around 2-2.5 hours. Feels solidly built. Pen has a good response. Overall, small form that includes USB 2 ports and optical drive, manual volume switch, good speaker placement, all for $1,100, not bad at all. Wishes, Secondary battery slot, card reader, Firewire, higher resolution, 100 gig 5400 faster drive, independent video card 64 meg minimum. DVD burner. Oh well, for the money, you can't beat this. I would not spend 2,000 for a tablet that doesn't have a built in optical drive, better resolution or not. I purchase a tablet for mobility, though I use the laptop features 90% of the time, tablet 10%, so I want the laptop features without carrying more power adapters and external devices. In trueth, I'm thinking of purchasing an ACER C303, this has a bigger screen, DVD burner, and swappable battery. 13 hours so they tote, but I'll take 8hrs! This I'd gladdly spend $2,000 for. Yeah, screen res is the same, but at least I won't go blind and the size is closer to my old laptop. As for gaming and high res graphics, it would be nice, but that's what my desktop will be for, I looked at larger notebooks, but the weight turned me off. I like the flexibility of hand writing my notes, whether it's for a business meeting or just for personal notes. Overall, best bang for the buck. $1,100 for a very portable notebook/tablet with optical drive. I tested editing photos and creating 3D video slideshows without problems do processor seems up to the task. Just my 2 cents! Hope this helps. Last edited by powellvu; 01-13-2005 at 03:54 PM.. |
