There's a lot of information here about the other Acer models but no mention of the C200. I just got mine about a week ago and have been messing with it quite a bit but have come across one problem that's stumped me. For some reason Acer decided to partition the 100GB hard drive off into two 50GB partitions. That was the first thing that needed to be fixed. I recovered the whole thing after that to give me a clean slate to work with. After that, added all of the goodies on the CDs they gave me and all of the extra stuff, including drivers and such, directly from their website. Everything is working beautifully except for the screen rotation, tablet buttons and the scroll wheel on the bottom right corner. The screen does still rotate if you use the "Change tablet and pen settings" button in the task bar. However, the tablet button on the right of the screen doesn't work at all (neither do the other 2 next to it. Fn and Esc.) but the power and lock button do. The other thing is that before I started messing with things (and even a little bit after), when you slid the screen down to tablet mode, the screen orientation would switch to portrait and then back to landscape in notebook mode. It's not doing this anymore at all and I'd like it to but I've been in and out of everything in the control panel that I can think of and couldn't find anything to do with automatic screen rotation. The scroll wheel I'm not even sure where to begin with since I haven't really looked into it much yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on this matter. I read through some of the other posts on here with other tablets having the same problem but couldn't get any of it to apply to my tablet. I realize the answer to this is going to be something plainly obvious but would appreciate the help anyway. The exact model I have is the CMT204TMi. Click here to view specs. Purchased from NewEgg.com. Thanks in advance! EDIT: Use the System Disc after the clean install or if you're having problems to load all the drivers that are found on that. Launch Manager fixed the tablet buttons and one of the other drivers on there got the scroll wheel working. I'm not sure if this is officially how to work this but I think I figured out how to trigger the automatic screen rotation. It doesn't work 100% of the time but works most of it. Here's what you do: Fold the screen down completely so it's in tablet mode. Go to Control Panel and into your Tablet and Pen settings. Set you screen for Primary Portrait. Save that and exit out of Control Panel. Once you "unlock" it and slide it up to Notebook mode, it should switch to Primary Landscape. Good luck!

Edit: Alright, so I just got off the phone with their tech support which was awkward. Have you ever spoke to tech support on the phone and have them just stop talking for a long time? Kind off odd but I might have an answer for us. Our brilliant tech support concluded that it was in the software (woo hoo! Either way, on the System Disc, there should be some reloading applications and/or Launch Manager and that should install what we need to fix it. He mentioned there was something else on there for the scroll wheel but was non-specific as to what it was. I guess just browse around on the system disc until you find something that works. If you test it out, let me know what you find otherwise I'll post my further findings here on Tuesday. Thanks everyone and good luck too Ponpon! |

Thanks for the info. I'm still working at it. Well, this is turning out to be one tough cookie. I fooled around enought with drivers and settings that I decided to start again from scratch. I started off by formatting and doing a "clean" install from the Acer recovery disks. Then, I installed every single application that came on the "other" disks, regardless how useless/pointless some of them turned out to be. I figured this would have to install the missing driver/apps.....but no such luck. Actually, the opposite...I found out that when you uninstall their "Empowering Technology" software, it uninstall the keyboard drivers and windows won't reinstall them on reboot (gotta do it manually using the pen....). Contacted Acer and it's like talking to Dumb & Dumber.... I'll keep trying stuff...I'll let you know if I find the miracle solution...

Try using the System Disc AFTER you finish the full install. When I went through and did a clean install of everything before I came out to Michigan, I did install everything (or so I thought) on all of those discs and still ended up with this. I think the Acer System Disc doesn't install everything it should the first time around. Now that you've got everything re-setup again, go back to the System Disc and see what you can find in there. And yes, actually talking with Acer is terrible. I'd rather try and explain all of this to colorblind monkies.. well, I pretty much did when I called I guess. Ahh well. That's what the internet and other people on it are for. Try just looking around on the system disc now and see what you find. As I said before, it doesn't install it automatically when you do a clean install on the whole system like you'd think it would.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yep that's what I did. After the clean install, I put the 1rst disc back in and found a bunch of other apps and drivers that were not installed when I did the clean install. I installed them all only to find out that they didn't fix the problem. Now I'm playing with the different settings and options to find the "magic" one. I also looked at the other 4 "image" CDs (1,2,3,4 of 4) and they only have the "cabs" that contain the image...not much good... I haven't given up yet hehe. Didn't spent enought time on this yet I guess...was a beautiful day here in northern Alberta and my wife put me on "landscaping duties" haha. Thanks again. Between the 2 of us, I'm sure we'll figure it out. Cheers Marc.

On the System Disc, installing Launch Manager from there fixed the tablet buttons next to the screen so I can rotate the screen again that way. Still haven't gotten the automatic screen orientation figured out but something else on that disc fixed the scroll wheel. Just install all the drivers on the disc and that should take care of those two things. Anyone have any idea where the magic setting is for the auto screen rotate? Let me know if you find anything Ponpon. I did get those other two things fixed though, one with Launch Manager and the other with another of the drivers on the disc. What exactally are you having problems with Ponpon?
